Fisherman goes on stabbing spree
Chhem Veng, a 45-year-old fisherman, was arrested Monday in Kandal province’s Damrey Chhlang village, Sa’ang district, after allegedly stabbing four people, including two policemen. Police said that Chhem Veng got drunk and beat his sister with a piece of wood, and subsequently stabbed two policemen and a 16-year-old bystander when the officers came to intervene.

Cake-lover shoots obstinate wife
Ven Sen, a 41-year-old farmer, was sent to Preah Sihanouk provincial court after being accused of murdering his wife with a cross-bow in the province’s Prey Nop district. Police said that last Thursday, a drunken Ven Sen ordered his wife to gather wood for a fire in order to bake a cake for the Pchum Ben festival. When she refused, he allegedly shot her with the crossbow, which he usually used to hunt frogs.

Lovesick security guard ends it all
Vorn Phay, a 20-year-old security guard, was found dead in his girlfriend’s home on Monday night in Battambang province’s Sangkae district. Twenty-three year old Oum Seyha, the girlfriend in question, told police that Vorn Phay had begged her to sleep with him at her home. She refused and slept at the noodle shop where she works, but later returned home to find that her boyfriend had hanged himself.

Two injured in drive-by stabbing
Hor Yim, 25, and Sieng Sokhea, 20, were severely injured when two unidentified men cut them with a knife as they were driving on a motorbike on Sunday in Kampong Thom province’s Santuk district, police said, adding that the victims knew the identity of the perpetrators and that the men will be apprehended shortly. Police said they suspected the attack was the result of jealousy over a woman.

Boy Drowns in Kampong Speu
A 12-year-old boy reportedly drowned while swimming in a canal in Chbar Mon district, Kampong Speu province. Police said that on Monday afternoon, the boy went swimming in the canal, about 300 metres from his home, but was subsequently swept away by rushing waters from upstream.
