Oct. 5, 2010 (China Knowledge) - Xi'an, the capital of China's Shaanxi Province, will encourage more local businessmen to invest in the electronics and technology sectors in Southeast Asia's Cambodia, sources reported, citing Hao Mangxi, head of Xi'an Bureau of Trade and Commerce, as saying.

Hao, who is leading a delegation of seven large companies from Xi'an to visit Cambodia, and the Director General of Cambodia Chamber of Commerce, Nguon Meng Tech, have signed memorandum of understanding to further enhance the economic and trade cooperation between Xi'an and Cambodia.

"We are interested in the technology and electronic sectors in Cambodia", said Hao, adding that the bureau will encourage more businessmen in Xi'an to invest in the country.

Nguon Meng Tech said Cambodia's agricultural sector is very potential for foreign investment, and Cambodia has a lot of young-educated labors with cheaper labor cost, adding that Cambodia needs investors with expertise in technologies to develop agricultural products for exports.

Trade between Xi'an and Cambodia was around US$100,000 per year, which is still low compared with other regions of China.
