HA NOI — Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Sinh Hung received Cambodia’s Agence Kampuchea Presse (AKP) delegation led by its deputy director general Chhin Yuon in Ha Noi yesterday.

The agency is on a working visit with the Vietnam News Agency (VNA) between November 23-29.

Hung applauded increasingly closer co-operation between the two agencies, which helped the two peoples better understand the context and activities of the two countries. He noted that the co-operation has strengthened the traditionally co-operative and friendly relationship between Viet Nam and Cambodia.

Hung said VNA and AKP needed to further exchange expert groups, as well as organise more training courses to develop technical capacities.

Hung said Viet Nam was committed to helping Cambodia, while VNA would also try to help AKP further develop so that both agencies can have convincing and trustworthy news products.

Deputy Director General Chhin Yuon reported good results from the co-operation between the two agencies in expanding information sharing as well as technical and training support, which has brought about greater effectiveness in each agency’s work.

Earlier, VNA’s executive deputy general director Tran Mai Huong and his Cambodian counterpart Chhin Yuon held talks, during which both agencies pledged to exchange and use more news and photos from each other in their publications.

They also pledged to develop news products on other important issues of the two countries, aiming to help each other increase their competitiveness to have their voices carried throughout the region and the world.

They discussed carrying out Vietnamese support with Cambodia’s AKP technical project, as well as a training course and experience exchange. — VNS
