Cambodia, Thai border negotiators meet in Phnom Penh+

PHNOM PENH, April 6 (AP) - (Kyodo)—Cambodian and Thai border negotiators met here Monday for the first time since a deadly border clash last week between their militaries.

Phay Siphan, spokesman of Cambodia's Council of Ministers, told reporters that the two-day meeting of the Joint Border Commission is designed to work out remaining differences.

Two short-lived border battles between Cambodian and Thai troops occurred Friday near the ancient Preah Vihear Temple, resulting in the deaths of three Thai soldiers.

Cambodia claimed that no one from its side was killed or injured.

The area around the temple, made a World Heritage Site in July last year, has been the scene of on-again off-again fighting due to disputes on where the border runs.
