The Anti-corruption Law will be passed after the penal code is approved, Prime Minister Hun Sen said at a graduation ceremony at the Royal School of Administration on Wednesday, adding only that the legislation would materialise "soon". Hun Sen then lashed out at NGOs that have criticised the government on the issue. "You formed an NGO with only five people, but the legislative and executive bodies are voted in by millions," he said.

The ministries of Agriculture and Water Resources and Meteorology on Monday encouraged provincial office heads to increase supplies of emergency water and funnel more water to irrigation systems as part of an effort to mitigate the damage to rice crops typically wrought by the "mini dry season", which lasts from July to September. Kith Seng, director of planning at the Agriculture Ministry, told the Post that the dry season had in past years damaged between 30,000 and 60,000 hectares of rice crops.

The former manager of the Hotel Renakse said she planned to appear in Municipal Court on Tuesday to answer a summons she received this week. Kem Chantha, who managed the hotel for nearly two decades, was barred from its premises on January 6 by police and officials wielding a court order stating that the hotel had fallen into a state of disrepair. She filed a case to save the hotel from demolition, and the CPP filed a case arguing that her lease on the building should be revoked because she had failed to adequately maintain it.
