In Banteay Meanchey province, a man accused of killing his wife on Monday after accusing her of being promiscuous is still at large. The owner of the house in Poipet town, where the couple rented a room, said she saw the victim’s husband leave in the morning but not return as usual. She added that it was also peculiar that the couple was very quiet the night before. In the morning, the owner went into their room and found the dead woman. Police said the man had strangled his wife and chopped her with a cleaver.

PUNKS RECKON MOTO A STEAL AT $180
Three young men were arrested on Saturday in Sampov Loun district in Battambang province for stealing a motorbike from a shop. Police said that the men went to several stores looking at motorbikes. At one shop, they met with the owner and negotiated a price for the moto, which was 6,000 baht (US$179.40). While testing the motorbike, they quickly escaped with the vehicle. Realising the theft, the owner called the police and the men were arrested on the same day.

MAN SUSPECTED OF RAPING GIRL IN WOODS
On October 7, police in Kampong Thom’s Prasat Sambo district arrested a man who is suspected of raping a girl in a forest when they were gathering wood together. The victim said that her family and other villagers had moved to the area because of recent flooding. When the girl accompanied a group of villagers into the forest to collect wood near a temple, she strayed far away from the rest of the people, at which time she said she was seized by the suspect and raped. Police said that they arrested the man after the victim’s family filed a complaint.

GANG ACCUSED OF ROBBING MOTODOP
Four robbers were arrested in Phnom Penh Thmey on Monday after stealing a mototaxi driver’s bike. The victim said that the robbers had asked him to take them from their home to the Bayab village for 7,000 riels (US$1.68). The robbers choked him with a cord until he fell off the motorbike.

WOMAN TUMBLES OFF SIEM REAP TEMPLE
A French national, Viriyang Kohen, 65, received minor injuries after falling down while scaling the Vimean Akas temple Wednesday morning in Siem Reap, police said. Provincial Governor Sou Phirin blamed the fall on the woman’s carelessness, but added that she was not severely injured and was being treated at nearby Bayon hospital.
