Southern Gold set to recommence drilling

Australian miner Southern Gold Ltd will commence its next phase of drilling for gold samples in its northeastern Cambodian mineral concessions within two weeks, the company said Monday in a statement. The work marks the beginning of its planned 2009-2010 exploration programme, which will see further investigation of previously identified deposits of the precious metal as well as surveys of its unexplored properties. Monday saw the company’s share price rise 13.8 percent on the Australian Securities Exchange to close at US$0.152 as gold bullion prices rose on regional markets.
Indian sugar company receives 7,635 hectares

IndiaN-owned company Kamadeno Venture Cambodia has been awarded a 7,635-hectare land concession in Kratie province to grow sugarcane, Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Chief of Cabinet Hong Narith said Monday. The concession is in the province’s Sambo district. Almost 11,000 hectares was planted in sugarcane in Cambodia this year, according to figures from the Agriculture Ministry. The main sugar-growing province is Koh Kong, where 3,244 hectares of the crop was planted.
