MAN ACCUSED OF KILLING GRANDMA
A 25-year-old man is suspected of killing his own grandmother in Phnom Penh’s Tuol Kork district Wednesday after she refused to sign her property over to him, police said. A few days before the killing, the suspect pressured the 72-year-old grandmother to sign over her house, police said. When she refused, he allegedly strangled her and used a cleaver to slash her head until she was dead. He also seriously injured the victim’s servant during the attack before making an escape. Police are hunting for the suspect.

WOMAN ACCUSED OF PIMPING HER FRIEND
A woman from Phnom Penh’s Tuol Kork district is accused of luring a friend to a meeting with an “old man” who intended to rape her. The victim told police she was invited to meet the suspect and a man for lunch. During lunch, she alleged, a sleeping pill was dropped into her drink. The suspect and the man brought the victim to a guesthouse, but she was saved by the guesthouse’s owner after she screamed loudly. The suspect, 20, told police the “old man” had offered her US$1,000 if she could get him a girl. She has not been paid, and police are still looking for the elderly man.

PARENTS RAT OUT DRUG-BUYING KIDS
Police arrested four “gangsters” in Pursat province’s Pursat town on Sunday after their parents turned them in, accusing the kids of stealing from them in order to buy drugs. The parents of one suspect told police their son would break into their closet to steal jewellery and cash and use it to buy drugs. Frustrated and running out of patience, the parents asked the police to arrest their own son. Authorities arrested the suspects while they were meeting up to buy drugs.

TRUE LOVE, NOT RAPE, SAYS ACCUSED
A man in the capital’s Tuol Kork district is protesting innocence after his girlfriend’s mother accused him of rape. Police said the mother alerted the cops after spotting the man walking out of a local guesthouse. The man said he and his girlfriend have loved each other for more than a month and agreed to have sex.
