A committee assembled Tuesday morning at CTN’s headquarters, after 65-kilogram tournament fighter Heng Samraing contested his points decision loss to Him Saray Sunday. The meeting was headed by CTN Director of Sport Ma Saray and attended by officials from the Cambodian Amateur Boxing Federation.

Heng Samraing complained that the judges should have scored him the winner, while also citing local newspaper Koh Santepheap’s article on the fight which had misreported him to have suffered a cut above his eye when in fact it was his opponent who had ended the fight bloodied.

After some deliberation, including a review of a recording of the fight, Ma Saray announced that the committee had decided not to overturn the decision.

Heng Samraing’s coach Prum Sophea, who revealed it was his first-ever review meeting, refused to agree with the decision of the judges and committee but was resigned to accept the matter as closed. “The rice has already been cooked, it cannot return back to being raw,” he said, quoting a popular Cambodian proverb.
