Police in Kampong Cham province have accused six members of the same family of violently attacking two women after a heated dispute. Police claim the six suspects piled into the family Lexus last Wednesday and chased down the two women, who they then allegedly attacked with knives, inflicting serious injuries. The women were sent to hospital immediately. Apparently, they had been involved in an argument with one member of the family, though police did not know the reason. Police said the suspects escaped at first but were arrested Sunday.

ALLEGED THIEF UPSET BY ROBBERY VICTIM'S SCORN
Police in Takeo province have arrested a man accused of stabbing an elderly lady to death after she apparently tore a strip into him for swiping her valuable chickens. Police said that the suspect was stealing chickens and other goods from the woman’s stall. However, she apparently caught him in the act and “scorned him”, according to police. The scorn enraged the man, who allegedly stabbed the woman to death in retaliation. The suspect vehemently denied any involvement in the woman’s death, but police said they have ample proof from those who witnessed the violence.

DRUNK MAN ACCUSED OF KILLING POOR MOTHER
A man in Pursat province allegedly beat his mother unconscious with a bamboo pole after she refused to fork over 1.8 million riels (US$423) for his wedding, police said. Neighbours said the 36-year-old son was a drunkard who never worked and constantly badgered his impoverished mother for cash. On Wednesday, he apparently was up to his old tricks. But when his mother had no money to give him, he became enraged and attacked her, police said.

FAILED MOTORBIKE THIEF ENDURES MOB JUSTICE
An accused thief became the victim of vigilante violence Saturday after he was allegedly caught trying to steal a motorbike in the early hours of the morning. Police said the suspect pretended to stay at a hotel in Phnom Penh’s Tuol Kork district so he could try to steal a fancy new motorbike from the parking area. But a security guard spotted him as he tried to escape to a nearby restaurant. The suspect was soon surrounded by the security guard and other passersby, who then started beating him. Police said the man was nearly killed in the incident.
