King Norodom Sihamoni attended the inauguration, which came one day after a blessing ceremony. In prepared remarks, Hun Sen said the five-storey building, at 50,790 square feet, was larger than the adjacent Chinese-funded building currently occupied by the Council of Ministers, which he reportedly declined to use for his own office space last year because he was unhappy with its design. “This building is an achievement for Cambodia’s children, the national budget, and the engineers and architects and constructors who designed the inside and outside of the building, which is real Khmer,” Hun Sen said.
