50 Percent of Rural Cambodians will get Clean Water Services in 2015

CAMBODIA, PHNOM PENH, Dec 29, 2010-The ministry of rural development has been enhancing the policy of supplying clean water and hygiene for local people at the rural development, in a move to implement of millennium development goal of the country and international efforts for the achievement of UN MDGs,” the statement of the government obtained on Friday said.

It added: 50 rural people will get the clean water in 2015, and in 2025, 100 per cent will get the clean water supplying under sustainable development.

Moreover, 30 per cent of rural people will use proper toilets, in 2015and in 2025, 100 per cent will live with good hygiene in the environment, it said, adding that in 2015, 30 per cent and 100 per cent in 2025, they will implement individual habit in using clean water and hygiene.

In 2015, we will have proper legal process, and human resources in developing the, enhancing clean water services, and hygiene for rural people individually.

Cambodia is enhancing clean water and hygiene in rural development’s policy for poverty reduction which stands about 26 per cent. The rural electricity power network is in process, and construction of physical infrastructures. Cambodia expects to have economic growth of 5 per cent in 2010.

Cambodia Breaks Ground to Build Second Sky Bridge in Phnom Penh

CAMBODIA, PHNOM PENH, Dec 29, 2010-Phnom Penh will have second Sky Bridge to ease traffic jam in areas near Royal University of Phnom Penh connecting to Phnom Penh international Airport in downtown.

“This flyover will help ease traffic jam at the area,” PM Hun Sen said in opening ceremony.

The second bridge over road costs over 8 million US dollars with 345 m in length and height of 5m. “We are trying to develop and upgrade for Phnom Penh, and also expand its size after the population growth and vehicles in city, “PM added.

The first sky bridge near Preah Monivong was built early this year, Phnom Penh is 576 years old and now about 1.5 million people, population growth is increasing rapidly after the economic development, garment sector collected in the outskirts of city, and number of vehicles rises and demand for transportation for local people.
