TAIPEI, Taiwan -- Former lawmaker Allen Cheng drowned off Sihanouk Port in Cambodia yesterday, his son said.
Cheng, a Kuomintang legislator, began a fish-farming business in China after he failed to get reelected in 1998.
“Father left Amoy (Xiamen) for Cambodia for a business tour,” Cheng Mao-chin said last night.

At Sihanouk Port, the son said, Cheng, whose widow is Democratic Progressive Party lawmaker Chang Hua-kuan, hired a speedboat to go to a fish farm.
He suffered a heart attack and fell overboard, the son said.
When he was recovered an hour later, the former legislator showed no signs of life, the son added.
