VietNamNet Bridge - A Cambodian delegation led by National Assembly Chairman Heng Samrin and his wife visited to the northern province of Ninh Binh on January 18.
At a meeting with the provincial officials, the Cambodia NA Chariman praised the renewal process of Vietnam in general and Ninh Binh province in particular.
On the occasion of Vietnam ’s Tet (Lunar New Year festival), he wished the local people good health and prosperity and expressed his hope that the traditional friendship and cooperation between the two countries would be strengthened further.
Heng Samrin aslo expressed his deep thanks to the Vietnamese volunteer soldiers, including those from Ninh Binh, who had helped his country escape the Pol Pot genocidal regime. He sent his condolences to the families of those who had sacrificed their lives in Cambodia .
Provincial Party Committee Secretary Dinh Van Hung, who is also head of the province’s National Assembly delegation, briefed the guests of the economic, political and social situation in Ninh Binh, stressing the province’s tourism potential and international cooperation opportunities.
Later on the same day, the Cambodian delegation visited newly-built Bai Dinh, the largest pagoda in Southeast Asia .
Earlier during his Vietnam visit, Heng Samrin had meetings with the host country’s leaders, including National Assembly Nguyen Phu Trong and Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung.
