The Cambodian Under-23s suffered a minor setback in their Ho Chi Minh City-based preparations for next week’s four-team BIDC Cup competition, to be played at the Olympic Stadium. On Sunday, the U23s lost their latest practice match 4-1 to Can Tho, who have just finished 3rd in Division I of the Vietnamese League. National coach Scott O’Donell reported: ‘‘We had a very positive first half which finished 1-1, with Kuoch Sokumpheak scoring after good work by Chan Chhaya. I made seven changes in the second half, and we conceded three very soft goals. … We will play Can Tho again on Wednesday evening and will be looking at a big turnaround.’’ Injuries have blighted O’Donell’s team selection ... and he’s been unable to field his strongest line-up.
