Poipet town police arrested a husband and wife Monday accused of robbery. A 43-year-old woman accused the couple of breaking into her house and stealing property on Sunday. The husband and wife – both 25 – confessed to the robbery and were sent to the provincial police station for interrogation.

MAN ATTACKS SLUMBERING WIFE
Ang Snuol district police Monday arrested a farmer accused of assaulting his wife while she was sleeping. According to police, the 45-year-old man arrived home drunk on Sunday and picked an argument with the victim. Eyewitnesses say the accused was jealous that his wife was having an affair and allegedly struck her while she was asleep. The man was sent to Kandal provincial court.

MAN KILLED BY GANG OF 40; TWO CHARGED
Krakor district police Monday arrested two men out of a gang of 40 who were accused of beating a man to death in Pursat. Police allege that the group of men were drunk and attacked a 25-year-old man with blades and wooden sticks after an argument during a dance on Sunday. Eight other people were also wounded in the assault. The accused did not confess to the murder charge; however, the family of the victim identified them as the perpetrators. Police sent the two to provincial court, while the hunt for the remaining 38 men continues.

MAN SHOT IN NECK FOR MOBILE PHONE
A 17-year-old student was shot in the neck during an armed robbery on Monday in Oddar Meanchey province’s Anlong Veng district. According to police, five men raided the victim’s older sister’s house and fired at least five shots into the air. Neighbours say the student was shot as he was attempting to help his sister. Police arrived to prevent the robbery, in which only a mobile phone was stolen, but the accused escaped arrest.

VANDALS ARRESTED; SEVEN AT LARGE
Three men were arrested Sunday in Phnom Penh’s Dangkor district, accused of throwing stones at a house and causing injury. Choam Chao commune police said about 10 men were throwing the stones and damaging property. They then proceeded to hurl rocks at the two owners’ heads when they came out to ask for a reason, seriously injuring the couple. However, the accused say they were intervening to stop the assault.
