WIFE TAKES CLEAVER TO PHONE-HAPPY HUSBAND
Police say a woman chopped her husband with a cleaver several times after he refused to stop talking to his mistress on the phone. The domestic dispute occurred on Monday morning in Kandal province. Police say the man was brazenly chatting on the phone with his mistress while his wife was standing in front of him. The man’s wife demanded that he end the conversation, but the man kept on chatting away. So the enraged wife took a cleaver and cut him on nearly every part of his body, concentrating in particular on his head, wrists and legs. The man is in hospital.

ALLEGED PURSE PILFERER IN PHNOM PENH
Police in Phnom Penh have apprehended a person suspected of plundering a purse and a phone from a passing motorist. Tuol Kork district police arrested the suspect, 20, on Saturday morning in front of Le President Hotel. The man is suspected of plucking the purse and phone from the motorist as she was driving home on her motorbike last week. Police said the victim lost US$100, 30,000 riels ($7.15) and two mobile phones.

WITNESSES PERPLEXED BY ROBBERY OUTSIDE CASINO
Police have launched an investigation into the case of a man who was shot and robbed while emerging from a casino in Phnom Penh on Sunday night. The 25-year-old victim was shot in the thigh and ankle by two suspects who drove off on a motorbike. The victim said he lost US$20,000. Eyewitnesses said they did not see the suspects engaged in any kind of dispute with the victim. Police said the victim, who is recovering in a private hospital, had sold off his father’s Lexus before going to the casino.

KOH KONG COPS DIAL IN TELEPHONE THIEF BUST
Police in Koh Kong province have arrested three people accused of a series of telephone thefts. The suspects were busted Sunday after they were caught allegedly stealing from a local mobile-phone shop. The shop’s owner said that he lost 20 telephones as well as 20,000 riels (US$4.80) and SIM cards. Police said the thieves, ages 20, 27 and 14, had struck before.

WOMEN LOSE JEWELLERY IN TAILOR SHOP ROBBERY
Two women were robbed at gunpoint at a tailor shop in Prampi Makara district Monday, police said. The incident occurred after the two women drove their Lexus to the shop from Russian Market. The women lost diamond bracelets, necklaces, rings, earrings and US$4,000 in cash.
