COPS SAY AMBULANCE CAUSED IRONIC ACCIDENT
Two people died and another three were injured in an accident involving an ambulance in Takeo province. Police said the ambulance hit a motorbike along National Road 3 on Friday, killing the motorbike driver and his passenger instantly. Witnesses said the ambulance hit the motorbike while it was being driven across the road. Police said the ambulance driver fled the scene of the accident.

PURSAT MAN BELIEVED TO HAVE DROWNED IN STREAM
A day after he went missing, a Pursat man’s body was found floating in a stream on Saturday, police said. The victim’s cousin said the 28-year-old man had been playing soccer with other villagers shortly before he died. The cousin said the victim played for a short time before taking off by himself to wash. A police officer concluded that the man drowned because he was found with sand in his mouth.

BROTHERS-IN-LAW BRAWL, LANDING ONE IN HOSPITAL
A booze-soaked drinking session nearly tore a family apart in Stung Treng province when a man allegedly slashed his own brother-in-law with a knife. Police said last Wednesday’s violence occurred after the pair had been drinking together for many hours. The 33-year-old suspect was sent to the provincial court after allegedly admitting to the attack, while the 43-year-old victim is recovering in hospital.

TRAFFIC COLLISION INJURES MANY IN KANDAL PROVINCE
At least 40 people were injured in a traffic accident in Kandal province Saturday. Police said an overloaded vehicle carrying factory workers and another one carrying goods were driving in opposite directions on National Road 5. Witnesses said the vehicle carrying goods swerved across the road and caused the accident. Both drivers as well as 11 factory workers were severely injured and sent to hospital. Both vehicles are being kept at the local police station as investigators ponder the case.

MAN KILLED BY VEERING PETROL LORRY: WITNESSES
A man was killed and his 13-year-old sister was severely injured in a traffic accident in Preah Sihanouk province Friday. Police said a petrol lorry struck the victim’s motorbike, killing him instantly and sending his sister, who was sitting on the back of the motorbike, tumbling to the pavement. Police said the driver of the truck managed to flee the scene of the accident, but officers have held on to the truck as they continue to investigate the incident.
