Cambodia Confiscates 6 million Pills of Crazy Drugs

CAMBODIA, PHNOM PENH, Dec 28, 2010-Cambodian police on Wednesday confiscated 6 million pills of crazy drugs with arresting 5 people after cracking down in Khan Mean Chey in Phnom Penh.

The pills were put inside 66 cases in a house belonging to an official of office of land management, and urbanization of Phnom Penh, and a nurse of Phnom Penh hospital, a police who joined the operation said.

The operation was conducted in different places.

Cambodia Break Ground 338 Megawatts Hydropower Dam in Koh Kong Province

CAMBODIA, PHNOM PENH, Dec 28, 2010-Cambodian PM Hun Sen presided to ground breaking ceremony 338 megawatts hydropower dam in Koh Kong province with $495 million of dollars from Chinese side.

“It will enhance power network in Cambodia and provide cheap price for local people to access to electricity,” PM Hun Sen told the ceremony. This dam is built under project of BOT. Currently, in Phnom Penh we need 300 megawatts and we bought 200 megawatts from Vietnam. So far Vietnamese side could support 120 megawatts.

Cambodia has capacity to produce 10,000 megawatts from hydropower dam and coal –fired power plant in near future, he added, noting that by 2023, there will be 98 per cent of villages in Cambodia could access to electricity from power.

Cambodia´s Interior Approves Royal Party's Name Return

CAMBODIA, PHNOM PENH, Dec 28, 2010- Cambodia´s Interior Ministry has approved a Cambodia´s royal party to change its name to original--Noromdom Ranariddh from Nationalism Party.

Norodom Ranariddh party spokesperson Pen Sangha told DAP News Cambodia that his party welcomed the approval of the ministry calling it is a positive step for his party to prepare for a two upcoming election in 2012 and 2013.

However, he added that his party would obtain as many as votes from Cambodian people with the presence of the prince Norodom Ranariddh, a son of former Cambodian king Norodom Sihanouk.

Prince Ranariddh was a first prime minister of Cambodia from 1993-1997 then the chairman of Cambodia´s National Assembly.

Norodom Ranariddh earned two seats out 123 in the national election in 2008.
