A Cambodian man was among the 25 killed in a train collision near Los Angeles Friday, US media reported.
Chao Yi, 72, who had lived in the area since the 1980s, was among the dead, following a collision between a commuter and freight train that was one of the worst US rail accidents in years, according to the Los Angeles Times.
Chao Kong, son of the victim, told the US daily his father was taking the train back from an eye appointment when the trains collided.
"I called him at 4:21 pm." Kong Chao, 36, was quoted as saying. "He said he was coming home soon…. He was almost there at the station in Simi Valley."
By late evening, Kong Chao had heard news reports of the crash and had not found his father, he said."I called him again, again and again, but there was no answer," he said.
