A border dispute between Cambodia and Thailand erupted into a gunbattle that killed two Cambodian soldiers near Preah Vihear temple. The fighting ended after about an hour. Each side accused the other of firing the first shot; officials from both sides downplayed the violence and called for a peaceful resolution.
