A trade fair kicked off Wednesday in Phnom Penh, Cambodia showcasing high-quality Vietnamese goods and export products.
Nguyen Thanh Bien, deputy minister of Industry and Trade, said the annual five-day fair attracted 180 Vietnamese businesses displaying textile products, food, building materials, cosmetics, handicrafts and pharmaceuticals at 350 booths, a 17 percent increase year-on-year.
Bien said the increase showed local businesses were interested in Cambodia and that Cambodian consumers were confident with Vietnamese goods. Export products to Cambodia grew by 40 percent last year.
He also said the fair, supported by the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee, would enhance Vietnamese-Cambodian bilateral trade, which last year stood at US$1.64 billion.
Vietnamese businesses will also conduct a survey on export demand in the Cambodia-Thailand border area during the fair, said event organizers including the HCMC Investment and Trade Promotion Center, Sai Gon Tiep Thi magazine and the Vietnamese High Quality Goods Club.
