DEPRESSED TEEN DRINKS PESTICIDES
A 19-year-old woman was taken to hospital by her parents after she drank pesticide in an apparent suicide attempt. The event happened on Sunday afternoon when her parents were quarrelling at their house in Kampong Chhnang province. The victim said she could not stand seeing her parents quarrel and having to deal with her family's poverty. Luckily, she was taken to hospital in time to save her life.

DRUNKEN MEN STEAL CHICKEN, MONEY
One of two drunken men was arrested by police on suspicion of stealing money and a chicken to eat while they were drinking. The arrested is known as Ros Savuth, 30. His friend who escaped the scene is Lim Khorn, 27. They are suspected of stealing 1,000 riels (US$0.24) to buy alcohol and then stole a chicken from the house of Touch Saroeun, 41. The suspect was arrested after the victim reported the thieves to the police.

Eleven people injured in car crash
Seven men and four women sustained injuries ranging from minor to severe in a head-on crash between three cars, which were all badly damaged. The accident, which witnesses said was caused by speeding, happened on Sunday morning at a bend on National Road 5 in Battambang province. The victims were taken to Sangke district hospital by the police.

NAN DEAD AFTER FALLING FROM TREE
Palm sugar producer Hem Piseth, 25, died at hospital a few hours after he had fallen off a10-metre-tall palm tree. The accident happened on Saturday afternoon in Takeo province. The incident was caused by a ladder that broke while the victim was climbing the palm tree.

MAN NABBED IN RAPE OF DISABLED WOMAN
A 35-year-old man was arrested by police on suspicion of raping a 43-year-old disabled woman many times. The man was arrested Sunday morning in Battambang town after the victim's family had reported him to the police.
