22-year-old man drowned in pong
A 22-year-old man was drowned in a pond by two men who robbed him of a red Suzuki Viva on Wednesday as he was driving with his girlfriend near a cashew plantation in Siem Reap's Slor Kram commune. The victim was identified as Eoun Eean, residing in Sot Nikum district's Dam Dek commune. After the arrest, the suspects confessed to police that they had tied the victim's legs and hands and dropped his body near the pond. KAMPUCHEA THMEY

Boxer arrested on rape charges
A boxer was arrested in Battambang's Thmar Kol district Tuesday for attempting to rape a 24-year-old woman last year. Police said the suspect, 17, resides in the district's Chrey commune. After the arrest, the little-known boxer, who committed the offence while he slept at the woman's home after a party, confessed that his sexual desire, compounded by wine-directed feelings, forced him to perpetrate such a shameful act. Restaurant closed over gunshots
Tuol Kork district authorities on Wednesday ordered the temporary closure of the Good Friends restaurant, reasoning that a frequent exchange of gunshots broke out in front of the venue, posing a serious threat to nearby residents and affecting public order. Police also claim the restaurant was operating without a business license. The facility is located in the district's Phsar Depo II commune and owned by a singer known locally as "Ork".

FIVE arrested from two gangs in Kandal
Five spoiled teenagers aged from 18 to 25 were arrested Tuesday by Kandal's Kien Svay district police for threatening to fight each other. Villagers said that the first group of five drunken teenagers armed with machetes and slingshots shouted noisily and walked toward the second group of seven people, offering to fight and end their past confrontations. However, the planned bloodshed did not erupt thanks to police intervention.

Girl stabbed to death in Kampot
A 14-year-old girl was stabbed to death in broad daylight Tuesday while she was riding her bicycle to buy food at a shop near her home in Kampot's Dang Toung district. The juvenile was identified as Ghan Chan Thorn, residing in the district's La'ang commune. Some villagers reasoned that the girl was molested and then killed by a man who knew her. Toch Dorn, chief of Dang Toung district police, said that police are launching an investigation to unmask the perpetrator.
