DRUNKEN MOTO RIDER HITS TRUCK, DIES
Yi Sam, a 38-year-old from Kampong Chhnang province's Rolea B'ier district, was injured in the head and died instantly in an accident in which his motorbike crashed into a truck at midnight on Friday. The accident took place in Khsam commune in Kampong Chhnang town. Police said the victim was heavily drunk when he was riding the motorbike, and the truck driver immediately fled the scene.

BATTERED WOMAN BATTERS HUSBAND
Diem Rim, 48, was beaten dead with a wooden stick by his second wife, Yon Heang, 46, who suffered the man's violent acts for many years and could not be patient any longer. According to villagers, the man's body was found lying on a bed in front of his house in Chineang village, in Kampong Cham province's Taing Krasaing commune, on Friday morning. The couple had five children, and the dead man had another five children with his first wife.

JEALOUS VENDOR ATTACKS HIS WIFE
A collector of recyclables was arrested by police for cutting his wife with a knife because of jealousy. The event happened in Trea village, in Phnom Penh's Steung Meanchey commune, on Thursday night. Police said the suspect was Keo Mech, 32, and the victim, who was severely wounded on her whole body and is being treated at hospital, was Ly Soriya. The couple have two children and had been separated for over a month at the time of the attack.

JOURNALIST NABBED ON ROBBERY CHARGES
A journalist at a local newspaper was arrested in his house in Banteay Meanchey province's O'Chrov district on Tuesday afternoon for alleged involvement in a robbery. According to the police, journalist Thorn Chantha, male, 39, was one of four armed men who robbed Theung Sambun of 18 chi (.067 kg) of platinum and 35 chi (.13 kg) of gold in Poipet town on August 1.

RECKLESS DRIVER DIES IN MOTO CRASH
One person died and another was severely injured after a full-speed motorbike crash. Police said the accident, which happened on Friday morning at Kampong Thom bridge, was caused when Theuk Hong, 24, rode his motorbike too fast and accidentally bumped into Seou Chandararith, 30, who was coming from the opposite direction on his right-hand side. Theuk Hong died in hospital about an hour after the accident, and Seou Chandararith remains hospitalised in Phnom Penh.
