DRIVER MOWS DOWN TWO POLICE OFFICERS
A man who lost control of his van left two policeman severely injured in Kampong Chhnang province and district on Friday. Police said the man rammed his vehicle into two police officers who were riding on a motorbike. The two policemen are undergoing treatment at the provincial hospital, police said.
MAN ACCUSED OF RAPE AND THEFT
A 25-year-old man was arrested on Saturday by police in Trapaing Run village, in Kampong Speu’s Oudong district, on suspicion of raping and stealing. Ping Pao, deputy police chief of Oudong district, said that Knet had raped a 15- year-old girl five times and was known to have stolen five motorbikes. Duong Knet confessed to the police the crimes he committed.
GUN-TOTING THIEVES IN SIEM REAP HEIST
Four robbers armed with AK-47s robbed a store vendor in Siem Reap province’s Varin district on Wednesday. The victim, Plok Nil, said that at around 7pm the four suspects – some wearing paramilitary uniforms – entered his shop and demanded money and other valuables. When one of the men hit him in the back with a stick, the victim decided to hand over 3,300,000 riels, three rings, and two mobile phones. He said the suspects escaped with his motorbike.
POLICE COMPLETE GANGSTER ROUNDUP
Six gangsters have been arrested after fighting with police during a dispute at a village dance in Oddar Meanchey province’s Chong district on Tuesday. Authorities said that the incident occurred when police were trying to intervene in a dispute between different gangs, and some of the gang members started beating the policemen. The gangsters are awaiting trial.
PEOPLE SMUGGLER NABBED IN B’BANG
A 45-year-old woman was arrested for trying to smuggle five people into Thailand from Battambang province on Friday. Authorities say that they had been monitoring the activities of the suspect for a long time and suspected that she was trying to smuggle people into Thailand. The victims said that they paid 2,000 baht to the suspect in hopes of finding a job.
