TWO MEN CONVICTED OF POLICE MURDER
Phnom Penh Municipal Court on Thursday sentenced two men to 15 years each in prison for the murder of a policeman in 2004. The men, aged 19 and 36, were convicted of shooting a policeman who had chased them following a robbery in Phnom Penh’s Prampi Makara district. One of the two convicted men said he was innocent and was simply taking a walk when police arrested him.

MAN ADMITS TO SEX WITH 14-YEAR-OLD
A 23-year-old farmer in Kroch Chmar district, Kampong Cham province, has been arrested for suspected rape after a mother alerted police to the man’s relationship with her 14-year-old daughter. The accused admitted to sexual intercourse with the girl but said that they are in love, and that he had asked the girl to live with him. The defendant is to be sent to the provincial court for questioning, police said.

POLICE ARREST TWO PORN-SELLERS
A 28-year-old man and 41-year-old woman were arrested on Wednesday for selling pornographic films on a street in the capital’s Daun Penh district. Police said they found some 29 pornographic films, and that the suspects will be sent to Phnom Penh Municipal Court. The selling and screening of pornographic movies is banned because it has the potential to be harmful to Khmer culture, police said.

POLICE HUNT KILLER OF 9-YEAR-OLD GIRL
Sambo district police are pursuing a suspect in connection with the rape and murder of a 9-year-old girl on Thursday afternoon in Kratie province. The father of the girl said that his daughter’s body was found in a forest after he and other villagers looked for her all night. The child was playing with other girls in a nearby primary school before she went missing in the afternoon. Police said the girl had sustained face and neck wounds, leading them to conclude that she had been killed after being raped.
