MOTO-RIDING MULE ARRESTED WITH DRUGS
Police in Meanchey district say they caught a 22-year-old woman red-handed lugging two packages of illicit drugs. The arrest happened Saturday when police arrested the woman while she was sitting on the back of a motorbike taxi, making her way home. Police say the woman confessed to buying the two packages of amphetamine pills somewhere in the capital. Police have sent the case to Phnom Penh Municipal Court.

KCHAM MAN ARRESTED IN KNIFE ATTACK
A 43-year-old man has been arrested after he allegedly stabbed a construction worker in the head – the end result of a drunken argument. Police say the victim called for help from nearby police officers. Police say the incident happened last Wednesday in Kampong Cham province.

PARENT POWER INVOKED BY POLICE
Police in Siem Reap province carted off nine “gangsters” to the local station, accusing the young ruffians of perpetually causing local security problems, particularly in one village. The police then called in the parents of the troublemakers and asked them to sign an agreement with authorities in which they promised to not let their kids cause havoc in the future. That should do the trick, one official said.

POLICE RAID ALLEGED ILLICIT GAMING HOUSE
Police in Sen Sok district raided an Internet shop alleged to be the scene of underground gaming, following an order from the prime minister to continue crackdowns on prostitution and gambling, as well as gaming houses near schools. The sting, which was executed Saturday, saw 27 students brought in to be given “advice” at the local police station.

DAD STOPS ALLEGED RAPE ATTEMPT
Police say a father rushed to his daughter’s aid in the nick of time as two assailants attempted to rape the 15-year-old girl. Two Kampong Cham men have now been arrested after the father filed a complaint to local police following the aborted March 1 attack. The two men were arrested the following day. Police say that the men admitted to attacking the 15-year-old girl.
