Man broke window out of revenge, cops claim
Police have arrested a 20-year-old man accused of breaking a glass window at a police station in Phnom Penh’s Dangkor district on Saturday. Officers reported that the suspect was walking home “seriously drunk” at the time of the crime. When he passed the police station, he allegedly started hurling stones at the window, shattering it. The man then tried to escape but was arrested a short while later. The suspect allegedly told police that he broke the window “for pleasure”. Police speculated that the suspect was once the subject of a complaint from his mother, who previously accused him of some sort of misbehaviour. This led police to conclude that the suspect broke the window out of revenge. KOH

Drunken bragging undoes theft suspects
Two men were arrested on Sunday in Phnom Penh’s Dangkor district after they allegedly robbed a phone shop the day before. Police reported that the two suspects made off with roughly 40 phone batteries, 100 chargers, 70 headsets, 10 watches and two phones. But the group’s devious deeds came undone the next day after they sold off their alleged booty, started drinking wine together and began boasting about all they had accomplished the previous night. Nearby residents overheard the tales of bravado and informed the shop owner. When the two men strolled by the phone shop again, allegedly looking for the next place to rob, police swooped in and arrested them.

Observant neighbours thwart potential rape
Police in Kandal province arrested three university students who were accused of attempting to rape an 18-year-old woman at a guesthouse on Sunday. People near the guesthouse reported that the three suspects took the girl to a concert, then went dancing at a nightclub until 2am. The apparently observant neighbours then said two of the suspects pretended to lose their motorbike key after returning to the guesthouse and left. The remaining suspect then took the 18-year-old inside the room and allegedly attempted to rape her, but she shouted in protest. Police came to the guesthouse and arrested all three suspects.

With friends like these ... man loses motorbike
Phnom Penh police arrested two men last week after they were accused of stealing a motorbike from a friend. Police say the three friends were staying at a guesthouse in Sen Sok district when the two suspects swiped the motorbike. The victim didn’t find his pals until Thursday, when he somehow apprehended them on his own and carted them off to the local police station. The suspects allegedly admitted to stealing the bike and selling it.
