Thailand Pledges to Strengthen Cooperation with Cambodia
Phnom Penh, October 14, 2010 AKP -- The Newly-Appointed Thai Ambassador to Cambodia H.E. Mr. Brasas Vinichay has promised to further strengthen the relationship between the two countries.
He made the remark here on Oct. 13 during the meeting with Cambodian National Assembly President Samdech Akka Moha Ponhea Chakrei Heng Samrin.
In reply, Samdech Heng Samrin warmly welcomed and believed that through H.E. Brasas Vinichay's diplomatic mission here, the diplomatic relations and the bilateral cooperation between the two countries will be further strengthened and consolidated.
According to H.E. Kam Kosal, cabinet director of Samdech Heng Samrin, the Thai-Cambodian parliament friendship delegation will pay an official visit to Cambodia. --AKP

UN’s Secretary General Ban Ki-moon to Visit Cambodia Later This Month
Phnom Penh, October 14, 2010 AKP -- The United Nations Secretary General H.E. Ban Ki-moon will pay an official visit to Cambodia from Oct. 26-28 at the invitation of Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, according to a statement released Wednesday by Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
During his visit in Cambodia, H.E. Ban Ki-moon will receive by His Majesty King Norodom Sihamoni and hold an official talk with Samdech Techo Hun Sen, the statement said.
H.E. Ban Kim-moon will visit the Extraordinary Chambers in the Courts of Cambodia and the Khmer-Soviet (Russian Hospital) Friendship Hospital.
Moreover, Premier Hun Sen would also ask the UN Chief to help mediate in the border conflict with Thailand during his visit in Cambodia.--AKP

Cambodian and Thai PMs to Hold Border Talk in Hanoi
Phnom Penh, October 14, 2010 AKP -- Ratifications on three border meetings’ notes and the redeployment of armed forces along the border would be the agenda of Cambodian and Thai Prime Minister meeting in Hanoi, Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen said.
Speaking at the graduation ceremony of Western University on October 13, Samdech Techo Hun Sen said his meeting with Thai counterpart would not talk on common issues as before, there are only two main topic to discuss.
Ratifications on the three border meetings’ notes and the redeployment of the armies along the border, especially in Keo Sikkhakiri Svara pagoda, Samech Techo said.
Samdech Hun Sen added that if these issues are solved the situation would be return to normal as before July 15, 2008.--AKP

Five Political Parties’ Election Observers Monitor Registration List for Commune Council Election in 2010
Phnom Penh, October 14, 2010 AKP -- The National Election Committee (NEC) hold a meeting with representatives from different political parties and civil societies last Monday at its office in the compound of the Ministry of Interior to discuss the monitoring of the registration list and registering a new voters for the commune council election in 2010.
NEC Deputy Director Mrs. Sin Chemo, who presided over the meeting, said that up to October 11, 2010, five political parties had sent 4,861 representatives as observers to the voting stations for the commune council election throughout the country. Of them, 2, 695 are from the Cambodian People’s Party, 1, 488 from the opposition Sam Rainsy Party (SRP), 325 from the Human Rights Party, 285 from the royalist FUNCINPEC Party and 68 from the nationalist party, she said.
Beside the political parties, the non-governmental organizations and three associations had also sent 77 of their representatives to observe the election process, she said adding that the monitoring of the registration list and a new voter registering was started from October 1st, 2010 and will close by October 20, 2010.
At the meeting, representatives from the political parties raised questions to bring the election to success with free and fair manner.--AKP
