LOUISVILLE, Ky (WDRB FOX41) -- A federal grand jury in Louisville has returned a second indictment against dozens of people connected to an illegal marriage ring.
Most are from the Louisville area.
The indictment claims over a period of more than 11 years, the defendants were part of a conspiracy to obtain lawful permanent residence in the U.S. for Cambodian nationals by staging fake marriages and engagements.
The indictment also claims the U.S. citizens involved were paid thousands of dollars, given all-expense paid trips to Cambodia and sexual favors from Cambodian prostitutes.
If convicted, the defendants face up to 75 years in prison and a fine of $2.75 million.
