Long Sophy cruised past a lacklustre Lao Sinath on Saturday to earn the decision an advance into the finals of the four-man light-welterweight tournament at the TV3 boxing arena.

In losing, Lao Sinath will avoid a date with Kao Roomchang, who faces Long Sophy in the tournament final December 11.

Kao Roomchang had already clinched a berth in the final with knockout victories over Long Sophy and Lao Sinath in the first and second weeks of the tournament respectively.

On Saturday, Kao Roomchang squared off with winless Pich Arun. Kao Roomchang badly cut the Ministry of Interior Boxing Club veteran with an elbow in the second round, forcing the stoppage.

Long Sophy, the current TV5 light-welterweight champion, and Kao Roomchang have met several times.

“I can lose to him,” said Long Sophy after Saturday’s victory. “I have lost to him before, but I am not scared. I am not scared of anyone.”

Kao Roomchang is widely considered among the most dangerous fighters in the light-welterweight division, but he has yet to land a title shot. Although he has come close a few times, victories in pivotal fights have always eluded him.
