DOZENS of competitors took part in a day of instant photography last week in a quick-fire contest to bring a fresh view of the world around them in the Canon Photo Shootout.
Assembling at Golden Tower Hotel, those taking part were given a choice of three themes – and just three hours to produce a photograph.
The idea of the competition is to prepare Cambodian photographers to join the regional Canon Photo Marathon, which is a global event held each year. Those taking part brought their own digital cameras.
Winners in each category won a Canon Ixus 300HS, with second prizewinners taking home a Canon Selphy and third place-getters winning a Canon Pixma printer.
The three category winners were Kouch Song Khung, Peng Peoupisey and Kung Sophorn.
Successful entries will be shown on big screens along Riverside during the Night of the Year on Saturday, when image boats will float along the Tonle Sap river displaying LED projections of the photographs.
Sponsors of the contest included Eurowater, Pepsi and Golden Tower Hotel.
Entries were judged on their creativity in interpreting the themes, use of colours and light and shadow, and composition.
