The situation along the border with Cambodia is peaceful and military leaders on both sides will ensure it stays that way, army chief Anupong Paojinda said on Thursday.
Gen Anupong was speaking at the start of a visit to the Second Army Region, which is responsible for the disputed border area. .
Phnom Penh has demanded Thailand pay 75 million baht in compensation for damage caused to a market during the deadly clashes between the two sides last month. The government has refused to pay, insisting the market was on Thai territory.
On the southern unrest, Gen Anupong said violence is notthe way to solve the problem. He planned to visit the southern region soon.
On Wednesday, insurgents shot dead two elderly women and set their bodies on fire.
