CAMBODIA, Laos and Vietnam met this week in Hanoi to increase auditing coordination with the goal of setting up a joint authority, Seng Ronn, vice chairman of the National Audit Authority of Cambodia, said Thursday.
Seng Ronn said the ASEAN neighbours hope to boost information exchange and share strategies on auditing government departments.
"We are all newly established authorities, and we all have similar abilities, so we can help each other by sharing experiences and finding new solutions to improve efficiency and transparency," he said.
Cambodia set up a national auditing authority in 2000. Those in Laos and Vietnam were set up beforehand.
Seng Ronn added that talks will lead to regular annual meetings to exchange information and conduct training among civil servants.
