POLICE HOSTAGE IN DOMESTIC DISPUTE
Eight police officers were held hostage for an hour on Sunday after they attempted to intervene in a love triangle. Choun Kim Seang, 24, and her brother, Choun Kim Doch, 21, locked the police officers in a rented house in Kandal's Ang Snuol district. Police said the violence broke out when Bun Chhay, 34 accused Choun Kim Seang of "stealing" her husband. During the dispute, Choun Kim Doch sided with his sister and attacked Bun Chhay with a samurai sword. A female witness to the altercation called police, who were subsequently locked in the rented house of Choun Kim Seang. Once released, the police arrested the siblings and confiscated the samurai sword.

COCKS SEIZED IN B'BANG RING STING
Battambang police officials confiscated seven cocks, nine eggs and six motorcycles, following a raid on a cockfighting ring on Saturday. The incident occurred in the province's O Mal commune, at a location owned by provincial military official Mok Someth. Koy Kan Yan, a provincial prosecutor, said Mok Someth must be fined and re-educated in order to put a stop to the illegal activities.

STOLEN BIKES SEIZED FROM PAWNSHOP
Poipet police searched and confiscated eight motorcycles from a pawnshop owned by Nop Chanto last Thursday. Police said the search followed a complaint by Pum Bunna, 27, who claimed his black Honda Dream with no number plate was stolen and then sold to the shop. The pawnshop is located in Poipet city's Kbal Spien village.

TWO NABBED OVER K SPEU MURDER
Two men were arrested on Friday in connection with the killing of a 26-year-old man whose body was thrown into Preak Thnot River. Kampong Speu's Samroang Tong district police identified the killers as Sok Touch, 29, and Vak Thy, who both reside in the district's Voa Sar commune. After the arrest, police said the perpetrators confessed that they killed the man by punching and strangling him before hurling the victim's body into the river. The motive for the killing was not disclosed.

THIEVES TAKE $4,000, INJURING BYSTANDER
A group of armed robbers injured a 28-year-old bystander and stole US$4,000 from a money changer on Saturday in Russey Keo district's Tuol Sangkae commune. Police identified the money changer as Sun Dara, 27, and the wounded bystander as Lak Lida, who both reside in the commune's Tuol Kork village. Eyewitnesses said the group consisted of four to six people armed with two handguns.
