THE 2009 Cambodian National Badminton Championship ended Friday after five days of competition organised by the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport in collaboration with the Badminton Federation of Cambodia (BFC).
According to Chea Bun Heng, BFC deputy general secretary, 187 athletes from nine clubs participated in the event.
The Ministry of Interior Club grabbed the most medals due to their wealth of experienced players. The ministry took the Division AI men’s team title ahead of teams One Two Play and Khemarak.
In men’s singles, One Two Play’s Prum Saravuth came in first, with Nuon Sophaon from the Interior Ministry in second, and Deng Tith Rasmey taking third for One Two Play. The One Two Play club also bagged the gold in men’s pairs.
The ministry’s Sieng Kim Hong reigned supreme in Division AII U16 men’s singles, and Kampong Chhnang won first in the corresponding men’s pairs. Suon Sophoas clinched gold for the ministry in U20 men’s singles, and Sim Pisith from Kampong Cham triumphed in U19 men’s singles.
Svay Rieng’s Ke Pich Chhor Ravy claimed gold in both women’s singles and women’s pairs with Leng Sokong.
Min Vireak and Lim Kao from Military Police won first prize in men’s over-40.
