As part of its cooperative education effort in Cambodia, Russia is offering a number of scholarships for higher education.

Russia is seeking to strengthen collaborations with Cambodia in the education sphere, and in light of this goal, its educational agency has created 12 full scholarships for Cambodian students to study subjects such as law, political science and construction in its national universities.

The 12 Cambodian students will depart for Russia on November 15.

The strongest candidates are selected by representatives from the Russian Embassy and the Russian Centre for Science and Culture (RCSC) in Phnom Penh.

Both the Russian Embassy and RCSC assist the recipients in making arrangements for short-term study tours and training in Russia.

Many highly skilled Cambodian academics had their intellectual grounding in Russia: Statistics from the Russian Embassy indicate that there are more than 90 Cambodians are currently studying in Russia, and that more than 8,000 in total have been educated in Russia and other former Soviet states.

Russia grants Cambodia more than 25 scholarships each year for these purposes. Out of the 12 recipients of undergraduate scholarships this year, proposed courses of study included medicine, law, political science, civil and industrial construction, and computer science.
