RAPE SUSPECT ASKS TO MARRY VICTIM
The parents of a 13-year-old girl withdrew a rape complaint from police in Banteay Meanchey province’s O’chrov district and allowed the girl to marry the 16-year-old boy accused of raping her. Police said the boy loved the girl and entered the girl’s house to have sex with her. The girl’s mother knew about it and reported it to police, but then the mother was sympathetic with him and asked him to marry the girl.

MAN ARRESTED FOR POSSESSING BOMB
A 21-year-old man was arrested Sunday in Battambang province’s Mong Russei district for possessing an illegal weapon. Police said the man attempted to use a bomb to kill a pagoda’s chief monk, who had defrocked him. He also attempted to throw the bomb at youngsters who had a dispute with him. Police confiscated the Chinese-made bomb and are hunting for an associate who they said was plotting with him.

THREE MEN AND A RUB, BUT BAKER CAN'T PAY
Three drunken bakers were arrested in Pursat province after entering a brothel and having sex with the women but refusing to pay any money. When they did not pay, the brothel owner locked them in the house. However, the bakers used hammers to free themselves. They were later arrested and taken to the provincial police office, where police said they did not know if the place was a brothel and may crack down on it later.

MAN COMMITS SUICIDE AFTER AFFAIR ENDS
A man in Banteay Meanchey province hanged himself Sunday after his parents condemned him for loving a mentally ill woman. The man fell in love with the 24-year-old woman and had sex with her, but the woman’s parents found out and asked the man to marry their daughter. The man’s mother objected, and the man then used his hammock to hang himself, police said.

BODY IN CAR’S BOOT LEADS TO 3 ARRESTS
Three men were arrested when police found the body of a man in their car, which was covered in blood stains when it arrived at a state hospital in Phnom Penh on Monday. Police said that the victim was a construction worker who fell from the second floor of a job site where he was working. His boss was frightened and sent him to hospital, and they found he was dead when they arrived there. The men were planning to send the body to Kampot province for a funeral ceremony in the man’s hometown, but were arrested by police.
