Growing concerns over the political conflict with Cambodia, rising oil price, and the Map Ta Phut injunction have worried consumers, leading to the first drop in five months in the Consumer Confidence Index (CCI).
The University of the Thai Chamber of Commerce (UTCC)'s survey showed that index dropped from 75.6 points in September to 75.4 points last month.
Thanavath Phonvichai, director of the university's Economic and Business Forecasting Centre, said that consumers have weak confidence with uncertain politics and rising oil price. The Cambodian conflict is the most worrying, as it could affect the government's stability.
To boost confidence, Thanavath said that the government must assure consumers that the conflict between two countries would not affect the economic sector.
