Police in Takeo province suspect that three drunken men robbed a vendor Friday using samurai swords. US$100 was stolen from the victim, and his motorbike was destroyed, said police, who believe the three were drinking before the robbery. Police have arrested one suspect, but the other two remain on the loose.

RAPE SUSPECT SAYS HE CAN’T REMEMBER
A Battambang province man accused of rape is claiming innocence, insisting he was so drunk on the night in question that he has no recollection of doing anything at all. Police suspect that the man, 27, beat and raped his neighbour, 30, behind his house when he saw her returning home. But the man told police he was “completely drunk” and denied any assault. Police have sent the man to court.

WOMAN ARRESTED AFTER DRUGS BUST
A 31-year-old woman has been arrested in Battambang province after military police raided her house and discovered illegal drugs. Police, who launched the drugs raid after acting on a tip-off, say that the woman delivered the narcotics to customers in Battambang town. The woman, police say, has confessed to the crime and said she bought the drugs from another woman in order to resell them. The woman has been sent to court, while police are investigating other people connected with the case.

COPS WON'T ARREST ORNERY SOLDIER
A high-ranking soldier whom officials have not named is accused of firing his pistol anarchically into the air an estimated 10 times on Friday in Phnom Penh’s Prampi Makara district. While local military police arrived on the scene shortly after the wild shootings, they didn’t arrest the soldier. Bystanders said they were clueless as to why the soldier fired his pistol. No injuries were reported.

MAYBE HE SHOULD HAVE STAYED HOME
A man accused of stealing a motorbike in Siem Reap province was arrested a few hours later after he cruised down to the scene of the crime on the stolen vehicle. Police said the man, 24, stole the motorbike in the early hours of Saturday. But he was caught when the victim, speaking with police officers at the scene of the crime, saw the suspect driving the bike down the street. Police quickly apprehended the man, who has been sent to court. The bike has been returned to its rightful owner.
