Wife hit by bullet while making up with hubby
Police are on the lookout for a man accused of accidentally shooting and injuring a woman while hunting in Pursat province’s Phnom Kravanh district on Thursday. The suspect allegedly fired several bullets from an AK-47 while hunting for animals. Some of the bullets entered a nearby home, where they struck the woman in the stomach while she was making up with her husband following an argument. Police said the shots were fired about 50 metres from the house.

Younger brother slain by older after drink
Phnom Penh Municipal Court has sentenced a 31-year-old man to 10 years in prison after finding him guilty of murdering his younger brother. Prosecutors said the two were drinking heavily and began arguing, at which point the suspect beat his brother to death in a rice field in Phnom Penh’s Dangkor district on April 26. He was arrested while carrying the corpse to a local crematorium. Prior to the verdict announcement on Friday, the murderer begged judges for a reduced prison term.

Widow faces jail for taking shirts from work
A security guard working at a garment factory in Phnom Penh’s Dangkor district on Saturday caught a worker as she attempting to sneak nine shirts off the premises. Police said the suspect was a widow supporting one child in Prey Veng province. She faces a possible jail term if found guilty of theft. Two weeks ago, a worker at the same factory was arrested and sent to Prey Sar prison after she was caught trying to make off with some merchandise.

Three-time dealers arrested for drug sales
Police on Friday arrested two men accused of distributing drugs in Battambang town. Roughly 400 yama pills were confiscated from the men, aged 36 and 17. The suspects told police it was the third time they had tried to sell drugs, and that they had managed to sell a total of 250 pills in previous transactions. Police said the two men would be sent to provincial court for questioning.

Ambushes caused by hunger, thirst: suspect
A man was arrested in Phnom Penh’s Sen Sok district on Friday after being accused of ambushing and robbing three motorbike-taxi drivers with the help of an accomplice. Police said the attacks happened in quick succession, and that one of the victims was hit with a rock. The accused told police that he and his friend committed the crime because they needed money for food and drinks. Police are still on the hunt for the friend.
