France Wishes to Directly Fly to Cambodia
Phnom Penh, October 12, 2010 AKP -- The French airline company (Air France) has considered the direct flights between France and Cambodia.
The Out-going French Ambassador to Cambodia Mr. Jean François Desmazières made the remarks here on Oct. 11 during his farewell meeting with Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen.
In the meeting, he also told the prime minister of the other French investment companies' wish to invest in Cambodia including sugarcane crop company, Total oil exploration company, Brett bank and Golden Rice as well.
In reply, Samdech Hun Sen warmly welcomed and supported to those companies' investment, especially the Air France company and also asked the Air France company to conduct directly fly soon to Cambodia.--AKP

Cambodia Issues Warning Alert on Weather Change
Phnom Penh, October 12, 2010 AKP -- Cambodia issued a warning alert on Monday to the public to be aware of heavy rain and winds within these few days in the country, according to Chinese News Agency Xinhua.
In an announcement, released Monday, signed by Lim Keanhor, minister of water resource and meteorology, it said within these few days, that is, from Oct. 10 through Oct. 13, a number of provinces, especially those lying along coastal area and several others in central part of the country will be affected by the heavy rains and winds.
It said those provinces and cities might include Koh Kong, Sihanoukville, Kep, Kampot, Kampong Speu, Kandal, Pursat, Prey Veng and Svay Rieng.
A preliminary report filed by Sihanoukville province showed that a number of houses and restaurants built along the beach were destroyed while several fishermen were missing due to heavy rain and storm occurred in the province on Sunday.
Cambodia is located in tropical zone in Asia and is rarely affected by severe storm, nor by earthquake and volcano.--AKP

Cambodian Customs Collects US$57 Million in September
Phnom Penh, October 12, 2010 AKP -- The General Department of Customs and Excise of the Ministry of Economy and Finance has collected some US$57 million in September 2010.
Dr. Pen Simorn, delegate minister in charge of the General Department of Customs and Excise revealed in a meeting last week that his general department collected some 240.4 thousands million Riel (Cambodian Currency) or roughly US$57.2 million in September 2010, increased some 10 percent if compared to the same period of September in 2009.
He also encouraged all customs officers to do their utmost in collecting more tax income for the state.--AKP
