Teenager dies after collision with truck
A 14-year-old boy died after a Lexus truck ran into the back of his motorbike in Takeo province earlier this month. Police said one of the tyres on the back of the truck “exploded”, causing the truck to lose control and collide with the back of the victim’s motorbike. The truck overturned into a nearby rice field, but its passengers only suffered minor injuries. The 14-year-old was sent to hospital, and died not long after as a result of his injuries.

Purse grabbers dupe grocer with veg order
Police have arrested two men accused of stealing a purse from a grocer in Phnom Penh’s Dangkor district. The two men approached the grocer under the pretense of wanting to buy “many kinds of vegetables”. But when the grocer began to invoice the pair, they reportedly snatched her purse from an unlocked drawer behind the counter and fled to a motorbike that was waiting outside, leaving the vegetables on the counter. Police arrested them roughly 10 kilometres down the road and returned the victim’s purse.

Thieves enter house through roof, steal cash
One of three suspected thieves was arrested in Battambang province on Tuesday after a homeowner witnessed the trio climbing though the roof of her house following a burglary. Police said the three men broke into the house after cutting through the tin roof, and snatched more than US$1,500 from an unlocked cabinet. The 55-year-old victim awoke to find them leaving through the hole in the roof and reported them to police, who found an AK-47, a cleaver, a watch and a shirt on the roof. The arrested suspect confessed to the robbery, and police are on the hunt for the other two thieves.

Soldier questioned over road rage pistol beating
A soldier stands accused of pistol-whipping a 38-year-old man during a bout of road rage in Phnom Penh’s Daun Penh district on Monday. Police said the victim was tooting his car horn at the soldier, who was on a motorbike in front of him. The soldier became furious and pulled the driver out of the car, repeatedly beating the man with the butt of his gun. Both men are now in custody.

Three men hack another with samurai sword
Police are on the hunt for three men accused of hacking a 29-year-old man to death with a samurai sword in Pursat province’s Krakor district on Sunday. The accused men and the victim were drinking together during the Pchum Ben festival when a boozy argument broke out. One man unsheathed a sword, and the suspects reportedly hacked the victim repeatedly and left him to die “in a pool of blood”. Police concluded that the murder was intentional.
