Cambodia's King marked the country's 57th year of independence from France on Tuesday.
At the country’s independence monument, the King lit a ceremonial flame as a sign of celebration and will stay lit through Thursday.
The country’s prime minister and other government officials attended the ceremony.
[Sy To, Attendee]:
"I am very happy to take part in the celebration of Independence Day of Cambodia and also the day when we formed our Royal Cambodian Army."
Colorful balloons were also released as a symbol of freedom.
Cambodia was under French rule for 90 years then occupied by Japan from 1941-1945. The country gained independence on November 9, 1953.
