Italian man beaten to death in Sihanoukville

A 52-yea-old Italian man was beaten to death in his flat in Sihanoukville on Tuesday , according to Preah Sihanouk provincial police chief Tak Vantha. The victim was attacked by an unknown assailant while alone in his flat. Tak Vantha added that the victim’s laptop was missing, which could have been the motive for the killing. Representatives from the Italian Embassy have sent the body to a crematorium in a local pagoda in Lek Bei commune.

Trials begin for two in narcotics cases

Phnom Penh Municipal Court commenced trials against two men accused in separate drug distribution cases yesterday. Tam Hock Choon, 49, was arrested on May 6, 2010, in the Chamkarmon district of Phnom Penh’s Boeung Keng Kang I commune after police confiscated 8 packages of methamphetamines and 10 yama tablets. Yin Chhorn, 41, was arrested on October 3, 2010 in Dangkor district’s Kakab commune, after police confiscated about 1 kilogram of heroin from his home.
