Cambodia’s CEO Thomas Hundt has announced that it is in the testing phase for its planned WiMAX network. The company plans to launch the service in Phnom Penh at the end of the first or beginning of the second quarter.
According to Hundt, Smart held its first live test of the system during the ASEAN Tourism Forum on Koh Pich last week, with excellent results.
The WiMAX service will also be launched in Siem Reap and Battambang in the near future he added. The company has no plans to offer WiMAX capable mobile phones and will be selling the service as an alternative to fixed internet service providers.
