Exam Protest
Education officials in Banteay Meanchey province altered exam results for four Grade 9 students after the parents of more than 20 protested yesterday.
Suong Savon, deputy director of the provincial Education Department, said officials knew even before yesterday’s protest that some of the reported results were flawed.
“It was a technical error from our officials, so we corrected it to see that four more students passed from Grade 9 to Grade 10,” he said.
Of those who took the test earlier this month in Banteay Meanchey province, roughly 91.01 percent passed, up from 87.78 percent the previous year. Nationwide, 91.81 percent of all test-takers managed to pass, according to Education Ministry statistics.
