CAMBODIA’S largest trucking company So Nguon Group claims its revenues over the first eight months this year have nearly reached total revenues for all of 2009, as business from garments picks up.
The firm generated revenues of over US$7 million so far this year, up from $5.04 million for the same period last year.
“Our revenue soared because of an increase in transportation of textile products,” group director So Nguon said yesterday.
Ministry of Commerce statistics show garment exports totalled $1.628 billion during the first seven months of 2010, an annualised 13.4 percent increase from $1.436 billion last year.
With some 200 lorries presently in operation delivering shipping containers throughout the country, So Nguon anticipates business will continue to rise.
“With the increase exports of garments, we hope to earn more than $11 million from transportation services this year,” he said.
The trucking firm has made 12,600 deliveries of containers in the past eight months, he said. The business ships goods on three main lines from Phnom Penh, connecting with Sihanoukville, Bavet, and Poipet. Last year the firm’s revenue totalled $7.56 million.
