An actress who was shot in the arm during a film-crew party that turned violent in Siem Reap province on Friday plans to file legal complaints against the producer of the film and the military police who caused her injury.

Sveng Socheata, 30, was shot when police arrived to break up an argument among the movie crew, who were partying near a pagoda after a day of filming.

The actress, who is recovering at a private clinic in Siem Reap and will undergo surgery on her arm on Friday, said she planned to file complaints against Bich Savin, the owner of the film-production company and the military officials responsible for her injury.

“If Bich Savin, owner of Seven Productions, does not take responsibility for what happened to me, I will file a complaint against him, because he looked down on my life and the lives of others,” Sveng Socheata said.

Bich Savin said he also planed to file a complaint against the actress, who he accused of having “ruined his honour”.

He had also asked for US$6,000 in compensation, the amount he said the film had lost in delays due to Sveng Socheata’s injury.

Military police officer Long Vuthy, one of those sent to control the party, said two officers had also filed complaints against Sveng Socheata to the provincial court demanding $5,000, claiming they were “seriously injured” in the fracas.
